“The earth laughs in flowers” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

Do you wait for a man to send you flowers?
Do you think flowers are only for special occasions?
The BEST flowers are sent and received ...JUST BECAUSE!

Marriage Advice from the First Couple

When I think about phenomenal married couples, there are few greater than Barack and Michelle Obama. Loving each other, growing closer, building a future, parenting wonderful children …all this while setting a positive example for all to see.  An example that constantly contradicts the one the media uses to define the Black family.  The Obamas are re-writing the script by their own definition and brand standards.

When asked their secret to sustaining a successful and thriving marriage for 20 years, the couple had this to say…

Michelle Obama:  “As my husband would say, just make her happy. Make her happy and continue to be friends… it’s the friendship that gets you through the tough times.  We’re man and wife, we deal with our kids.  I try not to get in his head. He’s got a lot of wonderful advisors and they are talking through what they are going to do and it’s just better for me to be his rock.”
President Obama:   “Seek out a woman with good genes, and then marry her. For the gentlemen out there who are not yet married, let me just explain to you: Your goal is to improve your gene pool by marrying somebody who is superior to you.”

Some say chivalry is dead...I say NOT!

Proof that chivalry is NOT dead ...

I have a friend who always invites me to the nicest places and he always pays. Tonight we met for dinner then went to see Sherri Shepherd perform. When the bill came at dinner I insisted that I pay...he said, "Next time." When we got to theater, I tried to buy our tickets...he had already purchased them online.

I hope this story gives someone hope and faith that really good men really do exist.  There are men who still open doors, buy flowers and refuse to be anything less than gentlemen.

And her husband was celibate for 10 years before marrying her! IMPRESSIVE!

DeVon Franklin Reveals He Was Celibate For 10 Years Before Marrying Meagan Good
Before Meagan Good tied the knot with her husband DeVon Franklin, she was very open about their devout Christian faith and how they both had decided to remain celibate until they got married. What many don’t know though, is exactly how long DeVon had actually been celibate for, however, in an interview with Global Grind, he recently revealed that he was able to abstain from having sex for over 10 years! Now, that’s what you call discipline!
He said:
She was celibate before we got together and I was celibate. You’re not going to believe me. Let me just put it this way, [I've been celibate] over ten years.  Part of what I also do is preach and the thing that I couldn’t do, which was eating me apart…What was happening with me is that I would go and preach one thing but I was going and living another and I could not do it. I could not look at myself in the mirror. I was like, ‘No, I cannot live like this,’ so I had to stop and say, ‘You know what, until I get married, that’s off the table.
He also revealed that he felt as though marriage was the real key to happiness:
We’ve been married for over three months, so that was the key to happiness. With men, sometime we run from it, but I’m telling you it’s a blessing. It’s the greatest blessing of life to be able to have love, because then you’re at peace. I know I am…So no matter what happens career wise, or even with the book. Getting out there and promoting that, you have a home base.
Back in the gap getting married was the way to seal the deal and get the cookies.. How long could you go without having sex?

LOVE...SUPERNATURAL

She comes early morning, so slight, so fresh, quietly standing over him...smiling. Sun warming her gaze, no hint of regret, abandoned in the moment, content in the day. Watching, waiting the ritual begins.  Touching his back, rubbing him awake, so loving, so delicate, so concerned for his being,  She whispers his name.  To witness a mother's love... is supernatural.

Words to LOVE by...

WORDS TO LOVE BY…
From two people who have unlocked the secret to lasting love...

“I am here to tell you I have been with him for 29 years, so that is my story. I will tell you this much like I tell my kids, treat this as a book …read it, embrace it and enjoy it.  If you like it and you can't put it down …keep it going.  But if that book makes you so mad that you can't stand it …move on.  And take notes, so the next guy you meet you know what you like and you don't.”  ~Mimi A. English

"I believe we should all look for that page turner in our own lives... the book that we can read over and over again. I know I never tire of knowing and learning about my own wife, the most interesting woman I ever met. Men are little boys until we meet a woman.  Blessed is the man who finds a real woman...for she helps him become a real man.”  ~Jerome Olds
